Now, it’s a no brainer that nutrition is so important, and I’m sure you know that the importance of it increases while pregnant and even postpartum. But did you know that it’s also an important aspect of pre-conception health.
Now before and during pregnancy your body requires and increase in iron, folate and calcium. Keeping these in mind can be really beneficial in preventing pregnancy complications like preeclampsia and preventing foetal abnormalities. Now- I’m no doctor, I’m just here
Giving you a nice reminder of some key things about nutrition.
Majority of pregnant women are now of prenatal vitamins and I would recommend talking to your doctor about which one is best for you!
Now on to the postpartum period. For all my babies during this time, I was so hungry! So thirsty! I had to really work hard to choose some healthy choices.
The postpartum period is your healing period. It’s really important that your body not only gets the rest it needs but the nutrients is needs. Your body is so fatigued and run down, your need for protein increases as well as your hydration status.
Having some pre boiled eggs in the fridge and some electrolyte sachets handy can really help.
As your doula I’ll recommend foods, recipes and touch base with you on how you’re going on the regular. During your postpartum period I offer hot meals and tasty snacks, to help nurture your body. You will find with my nutrient packed meals, your mind will also benefit. After all good nutrition significantly affects our mental health.
