about.
So here it is….. my first ever ‘about me’ section, on my first ever website!
My name is Juanita, I’m what they call a “well seasoned mum” having 4 children. All my pregnancies and births have been so different and that’s exactly how I would describe my kids personalities- Different!!
I know how personalised every pregnancy, birth and postpartum period needs to be. My goal as a doula is to co-design the care and support that’s needed for YOU, in your transition to motherhood.
What I noticed in my experiences is the negative cultural attitudes of pregnancy and birth. With the “bounce back” culture higher than ever and having a common theme amongst mothers to share their “traumatic” birth stories. It was a rarity that I ever heard “it was great” or”it went exactly as I planned”. It was mostly “it was good… BUT”. No more BUT’S!!!
It’s now, after my 4th child that all this has ignited a spark in me. To encourage women to take control during this transition and journey. So this is where I begun, I commenced my doula studies through the Doula training academy and created my own business of birth and postpartum support for women, their partners and families. I aim to provide ancient practices of birth support with a modern and fresh twist!
It’s important to me that you feel empowered, excited, educated and equipped to embark on this journey and to look back in years to come on a positive experience.
Before entering the Doula world though, I have been a registered nurse for the last 11 years, predominantly in paediatrics and have also dabbled in postpartum mental health Nursing- so I know what’s needed for us mothers, and I am well versed in children’s health. Although I can’t provide any medical advice, I can most definitely support you through the challenges and joys this unique journey brings. I have the skills, the knowledge, and the compassion to provide physical, emotional, and informational assistance to my Mumma’s before, during, and after labor.
